Hard drive imaging
Prepare
If you want to save the image file to the partition in external hard drive, please connect the external hard drive to your computer before starting MagicCute Data Backup.
You should find a partition that is big enough to hold the source hard drive.

Step 1. Select the source Hard Drive
In Main menu, select the partition and click "Clone to another Volume" button.
After clicking "Clone to another Volume", you may get the messages below:

It is not an error or warming. This message just remind you if you have installed windows update patch(es) or new program,
you should reboot the computer before cloning the system partition or system disk.
Step 2. Create the Image File

First of all, you should select a place to hold the image.
(1) Click "..." to select a place to hold the image.
After clicking the “…”, a file browser dialog will be displayed. All available partition will be listed in left banner. For you convinence,
the place you have selected recently will be listed in “Recent Places” node.

After selecting the target directory, the program will display the file system state of target directory.
If there is not enough space in target directory, the program will notify you.
Note:
You should select a directory that is big enough to hold the source harddrive/partition. MagicCute Data Backup does not
support seperated image files.
Path : The place (directory) where stores your image files. You can not store the image in the source partition/disk.
For example:: D:\MyDataBackup\
File Name: Giving a name to the image file. The program will append the extend name ".vhi" automatically.
For example: if you input "mySystemBackup", an image file named "mySystemBackup.vhi" will be created. |
Step 3. Confirm your selection
There are two main sections in this page. The Source section indicates the information of the source volume.
The Target Section indicates the physical information of target drive.
If you are sure your selections are correct, click Finish to start the clone process.
The Result:
If the backup process is successful, Magic Cute will create a file like:

Important: You can find your image file in "Restore From Images" easily.
